UCLA Anderson School of Management Students Woo Recruiters Online
The Anderson School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) is now using an online service to get its students’ resumés into the hands of recruiters who may be facing cuts in their travel budgets, according to a recent report in the Financial Times.
The service, operated by Revolution Careers and run by Anderson alumnus Mark Jaffe (MBA ’03), lets students submit a video interview as part of their online resumé. “Companies are using the video as a proxy for first-round interviews,” Jaffe told the FT.
According to Anderson Dean Judy Olian, the Revolution Careers package is particularly attractive at a time when recruiters are cutting back on campus visits or, in some cases, cancelling them entirely. “We’re looking at ways of cutting the costs of recruitment because that’s a barrier,” Olian told the FT.
Revolution Careers was established this year as a subsidiary of Revolution Prep, a California test preparation company also founded by Anderson alumni. The service is now being tested in California, but Jaffe hopes soon be able to take the service nationwide and even international. “This is a very scalable operation,” he told the FT, adding that he expects it to break even in 2010.
