The following U. Chicago Booth interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant who was admitted. Congratulations to them!

I interviewed with a second-year student at Booth’s Harper Center in the Hyde Park campus. The student had the résumé I submitted with my application, but no other information on me. Her questions were very, very straightforward:

1. Walk me through your résumé / tell me about yourself.
2. Why are you applying to b-school?
3. Why Booth? Why are you a fit for the community here?
4. Tell me about an experience you’ve had on a team / as a leader / failing and what you learned.
5. Why Chicago (I am East Coast-based)? (This one kind of threw me off as I didn’t have a great reason)
6. What do you want to do after school?
7. If that doesn’t work out, what’s your second choice?
8. What types of classes would you like to take at Booth?
9. What types of activities would you like to be involved with at Booth?
10. Any questions for me?

Ultimately, I think she was just trying to get a sense that I had well thought-out, achievable career goals, and that I understood why I was applying to school and Booth specifically. Was more focused on fit than my HBS or Wharton interviews… really dug into why I fit into the Booth community and whether I realistically wanted to move to the Midwest (as I never had before). But, as you can see, absolutely no “gotcha” questions – simple interview prep should suffice. I was ultimately admitted with a generous scholarship.
