TYPICAL
CLIENTS
Clear Admit provides counseling and editing services
to a broad variety of applicants. A few of the most common types of applicants
that we see are described below. We have the insider knowledge to work
with anyone, but the following information illustrates some of our in-depth
areas of expertise.
Early Birds Reapplicants
International Students Non-Traditionals
Overly Traditionals Oversubscribed Groups Low
Numbers
EARLY BIRDS
Some candidates realize early on that applying for an MBA can be a lengthy
process. They often come to us a full year in advance of application to
learn about ways to get the most out of their work experience, prepare
for the GMAT, take on extracurricular activities and enroll in quantitative
classes to bolster their credentials. If you know a top MBA program is
in your future, it is never too soon to consult with Clear Admit.
REAPPLICANTS
Many candidates who are denied admission feel that they have reached the
end of the line and will never attend a top program. This is false. Acceptance
rates for reapplicants are often significantly greater than those who
are first time applicants. Applying as a reapplicant requires a very different
approach to the process, and Clear Admit has extensive experience with
this matter.
INTERNATIONAL
STUDENTS
The admissions process is often perplexing to international students.
They may not be used to the notion of writing lengthy personal essays
about failures, aspirations and extracurricular activities for admission
to an academic institution. Clear Admit makes sure that international
students fully understand the rigors of the application process and the
strategies that can work for students from outside the United States.
NON-TRADITIONALS
If you’ve studied art or worked for a non-traditional company (government,
non-profit, entertainment), you’ll face certain hurdles in the admissions
process. The good news is that non-traditional applicants are often sought-out
by MBA programs, but the reality is that many non-traditionals fail to
address admissions concerns and market themselves appropriately. Clear
Admit offers tailored advice for this portion of the applicant pool.
OVERLY
TRADITIONALS
Some students have all the credentials: a high profile job with a known
company, strong academics, a high GMAT score and solid career goals. They
rarely consider using a counseling service and are confused when they
don’t gain admission to a top school. These students lack what some
admissions officers call “sparkle” – they don’t
have original essays, are slim on extracurricular activities and come
across as rather flat during their interviews. They assume the MBA is
a foregone conclusion and this comes across in their admissions file.
Clear Admit can help these candidates to stand out from the thousands
of qualified applicants and ensure that their story is memorable.
OVERSUBSCRIBED
GROUPS
There are many ‘oversubscribed’ groups within the applicant
pool: financial analysts, IT consultants, engineers, software developers,
Indian males – the list goes on. These candidates are over represented
in the applicant pool and often have a hard time standing out from their
peers. Over the years, Clear Admit has helped countless applicants to
rise above their peers and find success in the MBA application process.
LOW NUMBERS
For better or for worse, many candidates do not come to the admissions
process with a stellar GMAT score or GPA. In addition, some applicants
have a spotty career path with one too many gaps in employment. Our consultants
can help you learn how to mitigate a low GPA or address a GMAT score that
is significantly below the average at your target school. We can also
help you learn how to frame your employment experiences in a way that
clearly explains the path you’ve followed.
