Tuck School of Business Admissions Blog Offers Advice for Interviews, Visits

With the early action admissions round in full swing, an admissions coordinator at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business recently took time to address a host of commonly asked questions for prospective applicants who are wondering about interviews, visits to campus and more.

Cameron Steese, a Tuck admissions coordinator, tackled topics ranging from getting to Tuck’s Hanover, New Hampshire, campus to what to wear to an admissions interview as part of a post Friday to the Tuck Admissions Blog. If Tuck is among your target schools, you won’t want to miss the tips and information Steese shares.

Tuck invites all prospective applicants to interview on campus through an applicant-initiated interview process. These interviews, available on a first-come, first-serve basis, must be scheduled online at least five days prior to the date you hope to visit.

A majority of these interviews are conducted by second-year students who have gone through an extensive training process, Steese writes, which is what makes it possible for Tuck to offer the self-initiated interview option. Whether conducted by a student, and alumnus or a member of the admissions staff, all interviews are weighted equally, Steese adds.

The self-initiated interview must be completed on or before the application due date, which for the early action round is October 13, 2010. In terms of interview attire, Steese recommends wearing a suit. “If you find wearing a suit all day to be cumbersome you may certainly bring a business casual outfit alternative,” she offers.

Steese goes on in her post to address a range of questions pertaining to campus visits, including what to expect in the scheduled Q&A sessions, what activities are available for partners, where to stay when visiting and just how to get there. To read Steese’s complete post, click here.
