Harvard Business School Admissions Director Offers Last-Minute Reminders for R2 Applicants
As Harvard Business School (HBS)’s Round Two deadline approaches, HBS Admissions Director Dee Leopold devoted a post yesterday on her Director’s Blog to some important reminders.
She stressed to applicants that the deadline is NOON EST on January 11th, not 5 p.m. And it’s always better not to wait until the very last minute to hit “submit,” just in case the HBS servers experience delays or timeouts due to high volume.
After you submit your application, you can expect an email confirmation that it has been received, Leopold writes. As far as letters of recommendations are concerned, Leopold’s team will begin reading applications if they have two letters in by the deadline date. “We’ll contact you via email within a couple of weeks to let you know we need the 3rd,” she writes. But if her team has only one or none at all, your application will be moved to the next decision round.
Now – the all-important question: When will interview invitations go out? Leopold didn’t provide an exact date, saying only that it would probably be in early February. Details will follow, she promised.
“I know you will get anxious about this, but try not to spend too much time worrying about how many will go out on what date and what percentage are still to come and all that,” Leopold advises. “It’s just not productive and it makes me worry about you.” The vague information with regard to interviews is not really HBS being secretive, Leopold says. “We need some flexibility in how we move thousands of applications through an evaluation process,” she wrote.
Best of luck to everyone putting the finishing touches on their HBS applications!
