Dartmouth / Tuck MBA Admissions Interview Questions 2011

Check out another addition to the Clear Admit Wiki, a free resource for MBA applicants to share their experiences about the admissions process. This post spotlights the interview report as shared by a Round 2 Tuck candidate, who spoke with a current student.

“I interviewed in January 2011 at Tuck after applying in the second round. I had a second-year Tuck student as my interviewer, and the interview lasted about 45 minutes. The interview was friendly in tone, although the substance of the interview was more demanding than my research had indicated. That is, the interview was not solely a relaxed, walk-me-through-your-resume affair, but a series of specific behaviorial and exacting inquiries. The interviewer took notes throughout, but remained engaged in the conversation. I had five or ten minutes to ask questions at the end of the interview.

Questions:

  • Why an MBA?
  • Why now?
  • Why do you need an MBA to do what you want to do?
  • Why Tuck?
  • How will you fit in at Tuck?
  • What specific activities will you participate in at Tuck (business and not business)?
  • What kind of leader are you? Tell me about a time when you have been a leader.
  • What do you bring to a team?
  • How should members of a team deal with teammates who are not contributing?
  • Tell me about a time when you had difficulty with members of a team. How did you resolve those problems?
  • Who would be in your ideal study group?
  • What do you do for fun?”
