Background
(African, F, 35, Undergrad at local Varsity on full Scholarship)
EC - Mostly teaching and tutoring (during undergrad), netball social club, culture club at work and finally just learned to swim this year
WE
Spent my first 5 yrs in Tourism - started a new department in a small business and grew it from 1 to 3 people along with growing the additional revenue stream for the business.
Then did a Grad Diploma in Comms and moved to Fintech where I started in Marketing for 2 yrs (promoted twice) then transferred to Product Delivery/Program Management for the past year.
Post-MBA
First Prize would be Product Delivery/Product Marketing at a FinTech or Saas
Consulting in tech especially focusing on optimizing product development and delivery processes would be a close second.
Long term
Would love to be in an MBA I can leverage internationally because long term, I'd like to focus on developing leadership capacity in tech/innovation in Africa.
Taking my GRE next month and targeting 320-330 (Its looking doable so far but will see how it actually goes)
Targeting R1 but open to jumping to R2 if needed.
Biggest concerns
My age
No real international experience (except coming to South Africa)
I started a research masters then discontinued it so it shows as incomplete on my transcript. The institution phased out the program just before I went to do field research so I decided it wasn't worth sinking funds into data collection (I'd have had to travel to a different city for it) and school fees if I wasn't going to be able to leverage the qualification long term. Not sure if this qualifies as a good enough reason for dropping a post-grad qualification.
