Notes:

I currently have 2+ years of experience as a property tax consultant performing real estate valuations, presentations, and constructing arguments on a daily basis. I am also taking the GMAT Focus again in a few weeks with the goal of raising my score to th 95th percentile. I am not exactly sure what my chances are at my target schools are so if anyone has any feedback it would be greatly appreciated (positive or negative).

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1642 If you nudge the GMAT up, that will be good. It’s already going to be close to the medians for these programs. Curious, why you’re targeting these two programs, specifically?

Your post MBA goal, choose one, consulting or investment banking? Better to be focused, in admissions, and while in school, for recruiting. What is your long term goal?

Key will be “why now”, and showing impact and growth at work, backed up by strong recs. if this is in place, I’d think your chances will be good. Are you also involved in activities outside work? Any additional hobbies and interests?

Your 700 on the old version of the exam is certainly competitive for the two targets you have listed, but it never hurts to boost your score, especially given that you are a younger applicant with a bit less experience than average.

Speaking of being younger, Alex's point about your goals is particularly important - since early career candidates often fall short when it comes to being able to articulate their plans (and schools like specifics). As such, I recommend that you do some thinking around what it is you seek in the very long term for your career and then think about which path (banking vs. consulting) might be the best route to get there.
