IMD to Implement Curriculum Changes that Integrate Real-World Learning and Leadership

Switzerland’s International Institute for Management Development (IMD) is planning several innovations in its 2012 MBA program designed to provide students with more opportunities to integrate what they are learning in the classroom with real-world experiences and leadership opportunities, the school announced this week. The new IMD MBA program was developed with input from recruiters, alumni and academic research. It will incorporate what IMD is calling a continuous “action learning cycle approach,” which involves integrating classes with live business cases and projects that will allow students to put what they learn in the classroom directly into action. ETS Reports Record GRE Test Volumes for Second Consecutive Year

Educational Testing Service (ETS), which owns the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), reported this week that test volume grew to 700,000 worldwide in 2010, an all-time high and a 5 percent increase over 2009. “The growth we are seeing this year is further enhanced by the many business and graduate school programs worldwide that are now choosing to accept the GRE General Test for admissions,” David G. Payne, VP and COO of the higher education division at ETS, said in a statement. Michigan’s Ross School of Business Names First Female Dean

The University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business has named Alison Davis-Blake as its next dean, the school announced yesterday. She will assume the role in August 2011 pending approval by the university’s Board of Regents. Davis-Blake comes to Ross from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, where she has been dean since 2006. Prior to that she served as a professor of management and administrator at McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin for 16 years.
