In the days leading up to Wednesday’s first round MBA application deadline for the Yale School of Management (SOM), the school has announced a unique opportunity for all Forté MBALaunchers and Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) MBA Prep Fellows. All application fees for corresponding applicants will be waived for the 2016-17 cycle.

Forté MBALaunch is a 10-month preparatory program for women applying to business school, designed to help participants build a stronger support network and create a more direct path toward a successful career. Yale SOM has been a proud partner of the Forté Foundation since its founding in 2001. Since then, Forté has helped more than 5,000 women obtain more than $110 million in fellowships to apply toward business school tuition.

MLT, meanwhile, is a non-profit organization launched in 2002 to help make management education and business careers more accessible to members of under-represented African-American, Latino and Native-American communities. Yale SOM was among the first to partner with MLT, hosting an MBA Prep seminar on campus in the program’s first year. The organization since then has provided more than 5,000 students with career-changing opportunities.

With this new announcement, MLT MBA Prep Fellows and Forté MBALaunchers become part of a growing list of applicants who qualify for application fees waivers at Yale SOM. The school also offers application fee waivers for staff, volunteers and alumni of Teach for America, Teach for China and Teach for India; U.S. military service members and veterans; current or former Peace Corps volunteers and current Yale students.

Relieving students fees is part of the school’s ongoing commitment to diversity, as reflected in its mission statement: “The mission of the Yale School of Management is to educate leaders for business and society, and our commitment to diversity is an essential component of that mission. We recognize that diversity is an essential force in the business world today, and that diversity of identity and perspectives leads to better problem framing and decision making. Regardless of career path, our alumni will be more effective and successful when they learn about and embrace the experiences, ideas, and values of people with different backgrounds and aspirations.”
