Notes:

-State school Engineering Undergrad (think penn state, ohio state, purdue, etc)
-Rotational program at a too big to fail
-Been prepping on making lateral move into IBK
-Main interest are: skiing, sailing, community service through an organization, travelling, etc.
-CFA level 1 candidate (plan to stop there)
-Hispanic (may actually apply through consortium)

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1842 Solid numbers, with great GMAT! Be interested to know a little more about your switch to finance. Also be important to show impact, at work and outside of work. What types of community service activities are you involved with? Consortium might well be worth exploring, but also consider non-consortium schools, as you've listed. Re your next step, what makes sense for you regarding having most impact and getting closer to your goals? Also note that if you're not successful at top schools next season, you can reapply, etc. It does look like you are a candidate for the best programs. (1)

anon18311 Likes Earned: 0 Thank you! - Born in south America with no exposure to finance, went to school for engineering since it was the standard. Did an internship on enginering. Did not like that. Went back to school and discuss my interests. Narrowed it down to consulting and finance. Always inclined to finance bc of the quantitative aspect. Realized I wasn't going to cut it for ibk since I was late to the game. Went into a quantitative finance internship due to my background. Liked it but not for long term. Been trying to switch into ibk ever since. - It's hard to show impact at work since it's a business support? I would like to hear your approach. - Community service is within the city I reside in. I'm involved with a group that does a broad work of community service. - In regards of your last comment, I was wondering if schools would take in consideration previous application if I decide to wait longer. It would make sense that they would, and even hope they do so that they can ser progress. But, I was wondering if being rejected once would negatively impact future applications Thanks! (0)

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1842 If you are in a role where it is hard to show measurable impact, then adcom may look to your progression, at work. Any promotions that signal you've done well, relative to peers, etc. If you do need to reapply, adcom may have access to your prior app, and the reviews of that app. In most cases, showing progress as a reapplicant works very well.
