anon42832 Likes Earned: 2 OP here. Need as many different perspectives as possible. Quite a conundrum. Dinged by GSB. Already paid depo for CBS as I applied in EA. Love the fact that CBS places well in IB and though I'm a bit wary of NYC cost hoping to be able to get some $ from them, but they only release $ decisions late Feb. To a lesser extent considering Fintech or finance related roles in Tech. Interviewed with Wharton but don't feel as confident about how the TBD went. Q1 - I've been invited to interview with Cornell but thinking of withdrawing, should I? I believe their MBA doesn't have the OPT3 option but because of the immersions they place very well in IB? Q2. Admitted to Fuqua EA and depo is due in a few days so wondering whether I should pay that as well. Two considerations - I'm quite attracted to the OPT3 option in their MBA and also the small $. Wharton however has the OPT3 as well and I'm still hoping by God's grace that materialises, but Wharton decisions will come after the Fuqua depo deadline so I need to make the tough call. Also, I'm not by any measure rich so would want to continue saving as much as I can. (0)

grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1448 First off, congrats on your acceptances to Columbia and Duke - it's no small feat to get into two arguably top-10 schools! As to how you proceed, I think we needn't talk too much about CBS at this point, since you've already deposited and have preserved your option there. I think it really comes down to ranking the 4 schools on your list for IB placements, while taking STEM OPT3, and other factors into consideration. Most people would argue that Wharton leads the way with banking and finance, with CBS on its heels. Cornell and Duke both have strengths here as well (you are likely very much aware of the strong alumni presence that both schools have in NYC). The question you need to ask yourself is whether or not you'd attend Cornell over CBS under any circumstance (e.g. a large scholarship, etc.). If the answer is 'no', then you should move on from Cornell and focus on the other options. Duke is a bit trickier due to the scholarship $ and the STEM OPT path. Have you given any thought to the actual MBA experience and how it differs for Fuqua and CBS? These are indeed two very different environments. Do you want a small, more suburban/rural, MBA community with top flight facilities vs. a larger, Ivy League institution in the heart of a major business (and financial) center? As to Wharton, you never know...but that's kind of moot anyway, since you've already got your spot at CBS and have no reason not to see how Wharton turns out. Best of luck to you!
