Anonymous Likes Earned: 0 It varies significantly from year to year and from school to school. I believe the average for most schools is 10%-15% but varies between 0% and >50%. Just do everything you can to show continued interest within the rules set forth by each school and hope for the best. (0)

Anonymous Likes Earned: 0 Wharton has a very high matriculation rate, which unfortunately means that very few people get off the wait list in a given application cycle (maybe 5 applicants at best). Also, Wharton notoriously drags out the wait list till the summer, so don't expect to hear anything from them any time soon. Sorry there isn't more encouraging news, but you may have better luck with Columbia. (0)

OP Likes Earned: 0 I just find it hard to believe that it is HARDER to get in from the waitlist than to just normally get in. If a school has a 20% acceptance rate, it doesn't make sense (to me) that a fresh applicant would have a better chance than somebody who they liked enough to NOT reject (albeit, not enough to accept either). Again though, I've just heard so many different opinions / read so many sources that I'm not sure what to think. (0)

Anonymous Likes Earned: 0 I think 10%-15% sound right, but remember, many people drop off the waitlist or don't give it 100%. I think if one of these schools is where you want to be, it's worth it to stay on the waitlist and give it your best (0)

Anon Likes Earned: 0 Don't think of the waitlist as fresh applicant has a higher chance of getting in than you. They are trying to make an entire class with multiple backgrounds/WE's. So if your demographic is severely over represented, then you have practically no chance. If enough people in your pool drop off, then your chances go up. And even then, you still have to show interest through out the whole process to factor in luck and maybe you get in. (0)
