Notes:

Have been in operations and manufacturing throughout my career, would like to explore consulting in a 2 year full-time program. I may choose to stay in operations but I'd like to explore how good a fit is consulting for me. My GPA is very low, but I had some medical issues and it was simply 15 years ago and I have a different, more mature approach towards academic excellence now. My target school is Emory because I'd like to stay in Atlanta area post MBA.

anon46803 Likes Earned: 12 If your goal is to end up in Atlanta, I would also apply to other southern top programs like Darden, UNC, Duke which will all place you in Atlanta as well. (1)

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1581 Agree to considering other, regionally-based, programs. The GPA will still be tough to overcome. Have you completed any additional coursework? GMAT is. Very decent, but adcom might seek more in this regard. With 10 years of experience, hope you can show good impact at work. Are you involved in activities outside of work? You will also need to show that you will fully engage in the MBA experience, older candidates tend to engage less. (0)

anon68251 Likes Earned: 5 OP here, thank you for the replies! My family is in Atlanta so moving to another state at this stage is very unlikely for me. I know the GPA is still very low, I am hoping to overcome it by being completely honest about it. As I said I was young and immature, things have changed. I will retake the GMAT in late July, cause I got 710 after a 5 weeks of intense study but I believe I can do better than this with more time. Though it will be late for 2020 applications anyway. As for work experience, I had some impact throughout my career of course, mostly technical. If I am invited to an interview I will try to emphasize on them. I do boxing, and it consumes pretty much all my free time. Requires a lot of discipline and training. I will also volunteer in an animal shelter once all this covid situation gets better. (1)

anon68251 Likes Earned: 5 OP again, I will definitely engage as much as possible. I am aware that career transitions are not easy and I also want to keep operations as plan B, therefore majority of my time will be spent in clubs to get experience and build network. (0)
