Notes:

Mainly looking at one year Tech MBA prog at IE & Johnson. Just submitted my app for Cornell Tech (summer 2022). From Southeast Asia and currently based in SGP, looking to work in the EU or US (no hard preference). Undecided on INSEAD and Cornell Tech (assuming I get in) but definitely looking to return to tech (PM/BD/strategy roles). Thoughts?

grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1461 Congratulations on your acceptances to IE and INSEAD! Hopefully this bodes well for your results with the CornellTech application too. In terms of where you should go, I think that you first have to assess the three schools overall (not just on the strength of their tech-specific program offerings). This is because many of the custom 'tech MBAs' are still very new, and at the end of the day, global brand, network, and caliber of students will matter a great deal. So, stepping back to look at IE, Cornell, and INSEAD as graduate management education institutions, the rankings pretty clearly suggest that Cornell and INSEAD are at least a tier above IE. Focusing in on the two schools that have admitted you, I think most would give the nod to INSEAD; while IE has a custom tech-oriented program, INSEAD is also placing a lot of students with big tech, and they benefit from an immense network in Europe, Asia, and really the world over. Also, I know it sounds like you may want to head to Europe or the USA, but I'd have to think that INSEAD's strength of network in your home region (SE Asia) is a nice safety net should you decide to return there at some point. If you end up with an offer from CornellTech, the decision becomes more complicated, but should probably be based 100% on where you want to live and work in the short- and long-term. You mention you are indifferent between US and Europe, but I'd encourage you to think long and hard about it, since CornellTech is a perfect option for US placements in the long-term, and INSEAD will have an advantage in Europe and Asia.
