Notes:

Trying to decide between 2 schools- Carlson, University of Minnesota: 100% scholarship and Forte fellow v/s SDA Bocconi, Milan (no scholarship yet). Post MBA goal is to work in marketing roles in the FMCG/Luxury space with a keen interest in beauty (ideal firms would be L'oreal and LVMH, followed by Procter & Gamble, Unilever). Seeking advice.

This is indeed a very interesting dilemma, but I think it comes down to a handful of factors, regarding your specific career goals, geographic preferences, and your appetite for financial risk. A few thoughts to flesh that out: 1) There is a big difference between working at P&G or Unilever vs. LVMH (or a similar luxury brand). If you could hone in on whether its FMCG or luxury goods that really appeals to you, that may help point the way here. 2) Bocconi - and being in Milan/in Italy/in Europe - is hard to beat for access to the luxury goods sector. 3) Bocconi is also a highly ranked, and well respected MBA program across Europe - it's brand will help facilitate jobs on the Continent. 4) Carlson is going to have great ties into FMCG and the corporate sector in the Midwest, and a recognized brand in that region of the US as well. 5) Carlson is free! | Do you know where you want to live in the long-term? USA? Italy? Also, you may want to share your scholarship information with Bocconi and ask if they can help bridge the gap... Hope this helps! Best of luck!

anon10646 Likes Earned: 765 How many years of WE do you have? Do you have EU citizenship? SDA Bocconi will only be one year, so even if they do not offer much in funding your opportunity costs and total cost of attendance may not be much more. In general European programs do offer much in scholarships, so if you're going to request a $ review I'd get that done ASAP. They may tell you they won't do anything until the next review meetings which might be after your deposit deadline. Some firms may sponsor, but also some EU countries require employers to attempt to hire locals/EU citizens first, so I'd be sure to ask a lot of Qs about placement history of internationals if you do not hold a IT/EU passport. L'oreal and LVMH may be hard to get from Carlson (I think one or both may have core schools with a couple T15s), but at least P&G should be achievable from Carlson. (2)
