Nice GPA, but worry the GMAT is a little lower than the median for top programs. Also, with 9 years of experience, showing fit, for each program, will be important. (1)

grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1448 I am concerned that the combination of your lower test score and age may make for an uphill battle with the likes of Columbia, NYU, and Duke. This is especially true if you are targeting R3. As Alex points out, you will need to demonstrate fit and a desire to throw yourself into the MBA experience as an older MBA student. I also wonder about outside activities, since that could be a nice area for differentiation (and potentially a needed area if you are coming into the pool with a weaker GMAT result or are in some way over-represented). anon39710 Likes Earned: 4 Thanks for the feedback. I have already submitted applications for these programs. Offered a spot on the waitlist at Duke after interviewing, and just completed an interview with Owen (awaiting decision). Still waiting to hear back from the other two. Resume definitely shows clear progression/growth at work. Outside of work I have been actively involved in community service including serving in board leadership positions for a local 501c3 for multiple years. Tried to highlight that extracurricular experience in application and essays. (1)
