After eight years as an artist in the music industry, I am transitioning to finance with the ultimate goal of working within or establishing a venture capital firm focused on the entertainment sector. My vision is to create a firm that supports artists in a way that differs from traditional major labels while still prioritizing the personal connection that successful artists have with their audiences. Additionally, the firm will invest in emerging technologies related to the entertainment industry, including AI, the independent music sector, and fintech. With a background in chemical engineering, I also plan to develop a branch of the firm focused on biotech innovations.
A significant aspect of my journey toward pursuing an MBA is my sobriety and battle with alcoholism. Overcoming these challenges has fostered resilience and perseverance in me. I am actively involved in supporting others through regular speaking engagements at rehab centers and hospitals, as well as through my participation in communities dedicated to addiction recovery. This personal battle also explains why my GPA may not fully reflect my academic potential.
My professional experience has been non-linear. While pursuing a music career and managing my battle with alcoholism, I held various part-time jobs. My first full-time position began five years after graduating college. I have since left that role and am now pursuing an entry-level position in the financial industry. My entrepreneurial endeavors during my music career have been diverse, making it challenging to convey the breadth of my professional experience due to the various roles I’ve held since college.
