Question about MIT Sloan

I'm currently on the waitlist after applying to Haas in R1 and also on the waitlist after applying to MIT Sloan in R2. Does anyone have any waitlist strategy to share? And what is my realistic expectation of the chance of converting from waitlist to acceptance?

anon46783 Likes Earned: 16 No Idea about chance of conversion, that just depends on how strong your profile is competing with the others that are vying for the empty seats available. If there are some students already admitted with similar profiles, you stand a lesser chance most likely. Strategy? the dean has a podcast on YouTube available where they explain their view of the waitlist. Basically send valuable updates and then hope for some luck. (1)

1. The rules a school has in place governing waitlist communications and updates. Know the rules, follow the rules.

2. Understanding why you might have been placed on the waitlist and working to address the issue(s) - and conveying any improvements to the school (within the confines of #1 above).

bigsam Likes Earned: 6 What if I've accepted a admit and put down a deposit for School A, and then I later get admitted to School B where was waitlisted. I understand I'd lose my deposit, but is it considered a major breach of acceptable practice to withdraw my agreement to attend School A? (0)

eliot Verified User. Likes Earned: 2066 In business you make the best decision given the information you have available at the time. I assume that you put down a deposit on School A because you are/were committed to attending School A based on the information you had. Now, if in the near future you gain admission to School B and you decide that you would prefer to attend School B vs School A, then this is your choice to make. You are correct that if you turn down School A, you would lose your deposit at School A. But ultimately you need to select the school that is the best fit for you. (1)
