Overview
Maryland’s Smith MS in Management Studies (MiM) program is a ten-month, full-time, in-person program located at the University of Maryland’s campus in College Park, Maryland just outside of Washington, D.C. Smith’s MiM program is seeking recent college graduates with up to three years of work experience who are pursuing a management degree to launch a business career. For international students seeking a U.S. work visa, Smith’s MiM program is a STEM-designated degree program.

Curriculum
The Maryland Smith Master of Science in Management Studies is completed in 30 credit hours of classes over 10 months. Students can either pursue a general management curriculum or choose to pursue a focus in Sports Management. Students take a mix of core courses and elective courses. Core courses include Marketing Management, Business Ethics, as well as Managerial Economics and Public Policy. Additionally, students can complete an Experiential Learning project as a core course, working with companies such as Google, Major League Baseball, Marriott International, and Pepsi. In terms of electives, students can opt to take classes in Business Consulting, Valuation in Corporate Finance, and Consumer Behavior, among others.

Among the Class of 2025 Maryland Smith MiM graduates seeking employment, 82% found and accepted a job within six months of graduation with an average base salary of $66,137. Among MiM graduates accepting offers, 25% accepted jobs in the finance industry, followed by 12.5% in government, 12.5% in media/entertainment and 10% in the technology industry. Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid
The total cost of tuition for out-of-state students in the Maryland Smith MiM program is $65,500. For in-state residents, the total program cost is $51,800. This does not include fees. Merit awards are automatically considered for all applicants, and University of Maryland undergraduates that are accepted to the MiM program at Maryland Smith are given $10,000 towards their tuition cost. Students can also pay for their tuition through Federal Work Studies, federal loans from filling out the FAFSA form, in addition to graduate assistantships and fellowships.
Admissions
Applicants to the Maryland Smith MS in Management Studies are not required to have taken any prerequisite courses. In addition, no full-time professional work experience is required for acceptance into the program.
