Stanford MBA Deadlines 2026-2027
The Stanford MBA deadlines for the 2026-2027 admissions season are presented in the table below.
The Stanford Graduate School of Business is conducting its application process over three rounds this season. Candidates should note that their application materials, recommendation letters, and application fee payment must be submitted by 4:00 PM Pacific Time on the date of each deadline.
| Round | Application Deadline | Decision Notification |
|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | September 9, 2026 | December 9, 2026 |
| Round 2 | January 6, 2027 | April 1, 2027 |
| Round 3 | April 7, 2027 | May 27, 2027 |
Required Materials
In order for an application to be considered complete for a given deadline, applicants must submit responses to the school’s online application data form, unofficial transcripts from all universities attended (official transcripts are required after admission), GMAT or GRE scores, a one-page resume, essay question responses, two letters of reference from current or former professional supervisors, and the school’s $275 application fee.
If an applicant attended a college or university where English was not the exclusive language of instruction, they must also submit evidence of English language proficiency. Stanford GSB accepts the TOEFL, the IETLS, and the PTE.
When to Submit
The Stanford GSB admissions committee encourages applicants to submit during Round 1 or Round 2 (with the caveat that candidates should submit a polished application rather than rushing). The committee lists a number of advantages for applying in the first two MBA deadline rounds, including:
- allowing ample time for visa processing for international students
- having time to complete additional pre-matriculation coursework recommended by the admissions committee
- getting access to on-campus housing via the school’s lottery, and
- being able to attend a Welcome Weekend (as there is no event for Round 3 admits).
The admissions committee strongly encourages partnered applicants to apply in the same round.
When Does Stanford Issue MBA Interview Invitations?
Stanford GSB conducts MBA interviews by invitation only. The admissions committee does not publish a date by which candidates can expect an invitation. They do, however, share some information on when interviews will be conducted.
- Round 1: late September to late November
- Round 2: mid-January to mid-March
- Round 3: late April to mid-May
We can also make some inferences about invitation timing based on user posts to our MBA Livewire tool. Looking at Stanford interview invitation reports from the past two admissions season, the first reports of Round 1 invitations fall squarely in the middle of October, with the last reports coming in early December. Meanwhile, the earliest Round 2 interview invitation reports come through LiveWire in early February and continue into mid-to-late March.

Hello,
Here is my background:
- Graduated Dec 22, Engineering top 10 program USA
- Starting work in Aug 2023 in Engineering Leadership Dev program at fortune 250 manufacturing
- Did 1 year working product marketing in USA
- Did 1 year working an expat in Eastern Europe doing continuous improvement in Manufacturing
- Now Strategic planner for business transformation in a sub business unit that is underperforming (leading corporate planning process/getting involved in manufacturing ops turnaround)
GMAT: Not taken yet but confident I can get above 700
Not sure if my work history/a potentially high gmat score will get me into these schools. Is industrial manufacturing background valued? I've got some good stories to tell and really want to get the MBA to broaden my understanding of other industries and go in a generalist consultant to top firm.
Thanks!
Planning to apply 2027 R1 but doubtful on whether the school list makes sense and whether my profile is competitive enough given the stats. I have a year to prepare for applications so I am trying my best to fix any gaps, and I would be grateful for any insights/advice.

Long-Term: Launch/lead an industrial cybersecurity advisory practice focused on industrial SMEs across Southeast Asia.
Why MBA: Transition from technical execution to business/product strategy, build executive leadership capability.
Questions: Is the above school list reasonable or should I be dropping (or adding) any schools? Given my overrepresented background, is my profile competitive or do I need to work on some aspects?
Thank you in advance!
Hey Y'all,
Background: 27M, Mexican-American based in Texas
I am planning to apply this year. I studied petroleum engineering at a large Texas school and graduated with a 3.4 GPA. After graduating, I started working as a field engineer for a oil field services company for about 3 years. I was then promoted into more of an in office engineering role at this service company where I work with modeling & data analysis. I have been doing the in office engineering for about 2 years.
Post MBA, I want to work at a large oil company (think Shell, Chevron, etc) in acquisitions and divestitures using my engineering background + business skills.
Extracurriculars:
-I volunteer with coaching a local youth baseball league
-I volunteer with Hispanic students with college prep & admissions
-I volunteer with GED tutoring
Looking forward to hearing on how to improve my profile! I am really looking to maximize possible scholarships.
