Notes:

Just wanted to start off by saying I'm a huge fan of the podcast and a regular guest in the clubhouse room. Y'all do an absolutely fantastic job.

I initially planned to apply to business school this Fall, however, I recently accepted a strategy consulting role in London. Prior to this, I worked in Technology Risk advisory at a Big4 firm and was primarily focused on Infrastructure, Government & Healthcare clients. My intention was to work at a policy advisory firm such as Dalberg or at the non-profit/charitable arm of a large tech company post-MBA. However, my new role allows me to acquire consulting experience at a top-tier strategy house. This all seemed alright and initially, I saw it as a great springboard to help me break into a top MBA program and allow me to achieve my long-term goals of starting a Social Innovation firm right after. What this would mean though, is that I would probably have to start in ~3 years rather than next year (I will be eligible for Permanent Residency in 3 years, didn't mind leaving next year, but if I don't leave next year, it only makes sense to then just wait until 2024). My concern is I now kind of feel like I rushed into accepting this new job offer and have been told by a few people that I was probably better suited to go next year and would have been able to get into the programs I want and post-MBA roles that I was targeting as well. As much as I like the work I'm doing, I only see it as a stepping stone and don't really have a direct interest in the clients or industries. Curious to know your thoughts here. Do you think it'll be worth applying this year (going with my very initial plan) or do I just sit it out for the next 3 years?

I contemplated asking in the clubhouse room, but I feel like it's a super-packed question so I just brought it here instead.

To provide a bit more context, I intend on retaking the GRE and maybe applying RD1/2. I'm a woman originally from Africa and have vast volunteering experience as well and run an initiative that has achieved some success.
