APPLYING TO DEFERRED PROGRAMS

Background
- Current Senior
- URM (African-American)
- No family exposure to grad school

UG
- Undergrad @ T20 university in USA
- STEM (Health Science & Data Science)

ECS
- Self-founded tutoring business (small-scale)
- Leadership role as volunteer EMT
- Had some other leadership positions such as fundraising chair for school clubs but these date back to freshman year (are these even worth mentioning?)

Employment
- AWS Sales internship (converted to full time offer)
- Top performer, have some really nice stats
to include in my resume, also hosted tutoring
sessions for a mandatory cloud tech
certification and created a recurring
networking event
- Medical Device sales internship
- Did well, good stats, mostly opened the door
to landing the FAANG role
- SAT/ACT tutor

Why MBA?
- I have a passion for entrepreneurship and teaching. Tech sales is an entrepreneurial job by nature and I'm passionate about the tech industry. I'd like to get a leadership role at a hot start-up to scratch my itch for teaching and entrepreneurship. Eventually, I'd like to leverage industry experience and MBA knowledge to start something of my own.

Additional notes
- Started out pre-med, discovered a passion for sales after being offered a medical device sales role during my stint as an EMT. Went into tech sales because I discovered myself to be more interested in tech through my data science courses.
- Overrall, I would consider my stats to be weak for the schools I am applying to. I am hoping that being an URM pursuing a nontraditional path can close that gap.

Am I wasting my time with this or should I shoot my shot?

Appreciate any and all opinions/tips.
