I went to law school in Peru. After receiving my JD I worked for a year in the government, then I started a nonprofit (Environment - education) and went full time on it for about a year (This project is still alive and "successful" without me). After that, I got a Masters in Human Rights in Spain went back to Peru to work as a high-rank government official for about a year. A few months ago I moved to the US to work as a manager assistant at one of the businesses of a family I met during my nonprofit time (a medium-size retail store). My mid-term goal for the MBA is to work at an F500 manufacturing company in a GM position with a focus on sustainability. I will take the GRE in December and apply in 2020. My Bachelor GPA is very low due to personal stuff but I got my JD degree with a Magna cume laude. Please use my profile for wire taps!

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1572 We will! The big challenge you will have is to take your career path to date, and develop it into a cogent story. At first read, it's tricky to make sense of your moves, since undergrad. Similarly you'll then need to tie all that to your plans for the mba, and your long term goals. In your current role, you'll need to show impact. You have time, assuming applying in another year. Obviously you want to target as high a GRE as you can, so strong preparation, with the potential need for a retake. (0)

My main goal after college has been creating a positive impact in my society, I have taken every opportunity to do so and sometimes that came with changing my "field". Even though my moves seem tricky, there is a constant accountable positive impact in other people's life by my role in the different positions I have been so hopefully that shows my passion to help others. I decided to move to the US because my long term goal is to start a business with a social impact (Ideally focus on sustainability) and for that, I think I first need to learn from a successful one (Here is my intermediate goal). I'm currently working on starting a nonprofit here as a side project and at work, I'm trying to include sustainability into our business values. My biggest concerns are my non-traditional BS background and my weak GPA. At the moment my mock test score is in the high 310s, I'm working on getting this higher. Again, you have time on your side, I'd really push your GRE prep so you can target 320+ that should start helping to offset your undergrad, along with your performance in your JD program. I started an online b2c company a few months ago and it's going great so my plan is to keep exploring business opportunities in that field and eventually include the social element. With this in mind, the entrepreneur and sustainable aspect of the Business program is crucial for me. I'm currently located in MI. I'm focusing on programs in the US, willing to move anywhere but NYC. I'm working to get into the 320's. Do you think I should work on the "alternative transcript" that you guys mentioned? I have been doing some "network" with the programs I listed. What other top20 programs do you think I should put in my radar? I know that the GRE is going to be the deal-breaker for this but I would like to knock some doors and let them know I'm interested way ahead. Thank you so much once again! (0)

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1572 For an alternative transcript, it might be worth pursuing statistics and calculus, esp. if there is not much quant in your undergrad. Once you've completed the GRE, you'll get a better sense of which schools are best to target. (0)
