Looking for 1 year MBA only.
A bit uncertain about how to put my post MBA goal. I'd like to start up on my own and am working on an idea, but its in an industry in which I have no formal experience. I also have not worked for a startup. Will the disconnect between what I have done pre-MBA and what I want to do post MBA be a cause for concern?

anon17779 Likes Earned: 0 Forgot to mention. I'm male, Indian, 30 years age. Worked across India, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea and Saudi Arabia. Working as a consultant in the aerospace sector. But want to startup in the luxury retail field. Hence, a bit concerned if the story would seem appealing to the AdComs. (0)

What experiences have you had, to date, that will transfer to your new endeavour? These are a few of the questions that adcom will have, and you should be prepared to address. (0)

A few thoughts: Isn't the Kellogg 1-yr option designed for younger applicants with a business undergraduate background who have recent classroom exposure to MBA course subjects? If so, you may find you are a tough sell as a 30-yr old - especially if your undergraduate experience wasn't a business degree... Beyond that, I agree that your idea of heading off for a 1-yr MBA in advance of launching a startup - with no prior background in that domain- may be hard to swallow. Keep in mind that 1-yr MBA offerings often cater to applicants looking to accelerate their existing career path OR make an incremental change....rather than a wholesale change. This could be compounded by your current location - e.g. if you are looking to work in the USA or UK as an immigrant. In short, you may want to think about a short-term goal in industry that feels like a very logical step (and that might be why you listed some tech firms here?)... Best of luck! (0)

anon17779 Likes Earned: 0 @GRichmond. I had completed a diploma in management in 2016 and I know alumni from the same program who went on to do the Kellogg 1 -yr MBA. So I'm good on the eligibility front. Yes I too am thinking of having a short industry stint of say 2 years before venturing out. @alexbr4. Yes I understand that there will be some questions and I am not very confident if I will be able to address all of them in the limited words available for the essays. i can do so if I am called for an interview, but I'm concerned what if I don't make it that far.
