I have been working as a tech consultant at Big 4 for the past 5.5 years, had a product stint at a startup for 6 months before that. I am a professional musician whose band is decent in the local independent music scene, our original compositions have been streamed on digital media like youtube, Spotify, etc 300K+ times. I want to go into the tech strategy/product management role at a digital streaming company short term and in the long term, I would want to build and operate a startup that helps indie musicians do the digital pivot easier.

On extracurriculars, I play football for my corporate and undergrad alum. I have also curated a TEDx event and worked with NGOs in the hair donation campaign.

Everything looks fairly strong; numbers will keep you in the running at your target schools, work experience is solid, and ECs map nicely to involvement in business school. The key differentiator for your candidacy is going to be music and the way that your present activity as a musician weaves perfectly with your longer term goals. [I say this as someone who also applied to business school with a ‘regular’ career and a music career, and was admitted to several top programs]. The fact that your musical endeavors have clearly found some success is such a great complement to your more traditional work experience and suggests you have both right brain/left brain skills. The only thing I’d suggest you do is carefully research which programs might be strongest at the intersection of technology and music/media. I know you want to land in Europe (and have some of the very best offerings on your list from that market), but have you considered any of the US programs with strengths in these domains? anon12407 Likes Earned: 1 Thank you very much! I did think about US schools and probably might be applying to M7's that consider the whole personality aspect as much as the numbers. I have a few shortcomings such as no international experience being onsite although I have worked with clients across the globe and this does put me at a disadvantage in schools such as INSEAD, and I come from a poor background financially and have people dependant on me to provide for them. I want to show these facets such as how I worked hard to bring myself and my family out of poverty and how music shaped my views as a person (the whole aspect of democratization of music and access and availability to good quality production being my main aim).
