Years of Work Experience: 3.5

Notes:

Short term goal is consulting, long term goal is corporate strategy/Ops. I’ll be 27 by matriculation in fall 23. I’ve taken the gmat 3 times (1 online, 2 in person) and I’d rather not take it again. Wondering how that affects my chances to get in M7?
Demographic- Black M international (working in USA) for a F200 manufacturing company.
EC- lead intern engagement for select schools at company. Committee lead for ERG within company. Play soccer, mentor/coach middle & high school kids every semester (company program).
Leadership- currently have direct reports at work

Do you have any ambitions to return to your home country? 700 GMAT will be lower than average, but within range. What is the quant breakdown? (0)

ann7eki Likes Earned: 2 I’ve received one promotion so far at work & hoping for another before matriculation. From W Africa, and I do want to return but definitely not in the short term post grad. 700 is 49Q 38V. I wonder if there’s an equivalent to MBA math for verbal that I can do to show higher verbal proficiency asides from retaking the exam. (1)

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1583 There really isn’t. That’s a decently balanced 700. Long term goal returning to West Africa can help (assuming you can make more impact over there). For the programs you’re targeting, you might be best to take one more go at the GMAT. For the next tier down, it might not be as necessary, and you do have some time. (0)

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1583 The score may be ok, if everything else is very compelling, including well thought out long term goals. But any increase will have an impact, for sure. (0)

Likes Earned: 1152 My take is that you may have a path into some of these programs with your numbers as-is....BUT...given that we are still about 6 months out from any R1 deadlines next season, I do feel like I'd be remiss if I didn't at least urge you to attempt a better result on the test. Time in on your side, and securing a 720+ could not only increase your odds of acceptance to this very elite list of targets, but may ultimately lead to greater scholarship offers too. I also think your goals need some work, to craft a compelling and well-linked story. And finally, I don't think it's wise to ONLY target M7 programs, unless you are willing to take the risk of having to reapply the following year. Further, the likes of Berkeley, Yale, Tuck, Stern, and many other top-16 US programs could absolutely help you to achieve your goals (and perhaps provide you with a bit more funding too).
