Notes:

Retaking the GRE in a few weeks, am hoping to come out with a 320 total at a minimum. Currently working at a big 4 consulting firm- being sponsored by the firm to get my MBA full time for 2 years and then return to the firm post-MBA. Have some fantastic work experience as a female in technology specializing in the technical aspects of SAP implementations. Was the project lead on an international implementation as a second year analyst. Have connections with the admissions team for all 4 schools due to an extracurricular at the firm (unsure if that increases likelihood of admittance or just makes it easier to stay in contact with the admissions team). First generation college student.

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1579 It's good that you're planning to retake the GRE. Any reason you're not taking the GMAT? Are you applying to Columbia ED? That should help there. Any ECs/volunteer experiences outside of work? Solid work experience, with international experiences helps. Make sure you can demonstrate real impact (show, don't tell). Curious how you picked these four schools, beyond the connections you've made? (0)

anon83505 Likes Earned: 0 Thanks for the response! I've taken the GMAT before and genuinely prefer the set up of the GRE. I also feel that the incorporation of integrated reasoning into the quant section of the GRE is beneficial for me as I was in the 99th percentile for integrated reasoning (and writing) on the GMAT, but tend to score lower in the other sections. I wasn't planning to apply ED for Columbia as even though it's one of my top choices, I'd like the opportunity to be admitted elsewhere. I would definitely consider JTerm if that would give me a leg up, though I'm not sure I'm sold on the idea of not being able to have an internship. I have some ECs/volunteer experience outside of work, but the majority of my extras still involve the firm in some capacity as we organize immense amounts of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. I picked CBS/Booth/Ross/McCombs because they all have fantastic analytics programs while maintaining a diverse global outlook. I want to focus on business analytics/operations/risk analysis, but still be able to either study abroad or work on a global project through the program. (0)

Consider Columbia ED, if not, you're signaling to them that they are not your first choice, so bear that in mind. (I know, it's not really fair...) (0)

grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1152 If you can boost your GRE (or GMAT) results into the range of the top schools on your list, and apply to CBS ED you should be in excellent shape. Your profile as a female in a more tech setting will play well too. Keep in mind that applying ED to CBS doesn't preclude you from submitting apps elsewhere...(or, technically, even waiting to hear how those apps turn out...but that's up to you in terms of how closely you wish to follow CBS's guidelines).
