Why an MBA: Since high school I’ve found myself attracted to business (did a business minor in college) and thought an MBA would be a cool thing to do down the road. While I appreciate having an engineering background, I didn’t see myself become a technical expert but rather using my foundation to solve business problems in commercial roles. An MBA will allow me to develop my business acumen and leadership skills so I can pivot to the commercial side and accelerate my career trajectory.

Why now: During the pandemic I decided to pivot towards sustainable energy after realizing how urgent the need to decarbonize and fight climate change is. I wanted to broaden beyond my petroleum engineering skillset before making a pivot, so I pursued roles in tech and now consulting that would allow me to see different sides of the energy industry. I’m now at a point where l’ve gained enough experience to contribute in a classroom and have learned enough about the energy industry to confidently make the pivot to sustainable energy.

Long term goal: Head of strategy for a clean energy company, with a focus on building energy infrastructure in Nigeria
