Northwestern Kellogg MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / First-Year Student / Zoom
There was no icebreaker and we got straight into the interview, which made me a bit nervous, especially during the first question. The interview was mostly focused on my goals, had behavioural questions and some follow-ups based on my responses. Questions Asked: Tell me about yourself. Short-Term Goal? Why MBA? Why Kellogg? Leadership Style? Time you stepped up as a leader and struggles you faced? A follow up question on that something about if I’ve continued to do that. Experience working with a diverse team? Michigan Ross MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alumnus / Zoom
The interview was warm and conversational. They started by sharing their own background, then asked me to walk through mine from scratch. Most of the questions were behavioral and not the standard list, so I had to think on my feet. There was plenty of time at the end for questions. UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Adcom / Zoom
Interview was pretty straightforward. It was conversational and there were no curveballs or trick questions. They emphasized that they’re looking at culture fit, alignment with the core values, and whether you work well with others. Come in with a roadmap for your two years and a clear idea of what you want to do post-MBA. My interview covered my academic background, reasons for applying, future goals, and how I have handled challenges in previous experiences. Duke Fuqua MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alumnus / Off-Campus
In person interview. Very casual conversation, not particularly structured. Reviewed my resume briefly, some questions about my current role. Conversation started by discussing my background, then short-term/long-term goals, teamwork examples, and then “why Fuqua.” Interviewer had great things to say about Fuqua, and helped answer my questions with great detail. Lots of discussion on career goals, I think to both identify school fit as well as career fit. Final question was “what does Team Fuqua mean to you?” Be ready to answer questions about contributions to the school and “Team Fuqua.”

The interview was fairly well structured with the interviewer clearly reading the questions off of a prescribed list of questions. Nothing particularly surprising. There was just one probe and one question that I hadn’t seen in older Yale SOM debriefs. The interview was résumé-based and pretty relaxed. The questions were asked more out of genuine curiosity than in a challenging or confrontational tone. Questions, in summary: – TMAY – Short- and long-term goals? – How CBS connects with my short-term goal? (Why CBS) – A follow-up on how would I create a community/contribute. – TMAT you disagreed during a group effort. – A question about why I engaged with a specific extracurricular. Texas McCombs MBA Admissions Connection: Round 1 / Second-Year Student / Zoom
Questions Asked: Only one: “Why McCombs?” Interview Experience & Vibe: I purposely matched with a second-year student who shared my non-traditional background and was a fellow in a prestigious McCombs program. This allowed me to ask highly targeted questions about transitioning to traditional recruiting pipelines and understanding how I could be a part of said prestigious program. The overall vibe was warm, friendly, and encouraging, solidifying my confidence in choosing McCombs. R1 alum interview, off-campus in-person, ran about an hour. Very conversational and felt more like a chat than an evaluation. It was resume-based, and felt that he clearly read mine. Opened with Tell me about yourself, then moved through Why MBA/Why Now, Why INSEAD, short- and long-term goals, strengths/weaknesses, and what I’d contribute to the class. Two behavioral questions: Tell me about a time I had to face failure and asked me to share an instance in which I lead a team/tough situations. Texas McCombs MBA Peer Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Second-Year Student / Zoom
The interview was very conversational and behavioral. The second-year student asked me for a bio and introduction of myself, and my career background. Then we discussed their experiences as a McCombs MBA student and why they chose the program. We discussed life in Austin and recruiting for roles in Texas and in the US. Overall, I would say the interview was not as specific on questions, but more so a conversation to get to know more about the candidate and offer them a chance to learn about the interviewer’s journey and experiences. I got accepted to the program.
