28 y/o mixed race male (asian/white). GMAT 700 Q44 V41.

Current Consultant for boutique consulting co (100 or so peeople) in NE US. international consulting experience in banking, auto, and oil and gas. Aiming to work for larger consulting firm after graduation, think Deloitte, Accenture etc.

Triple major (Business Management, Chinese, International Studies) from a top 15 public university. EC's are ok but not great.

Am targeting schools with good consulting placement. Am thinking that LBS, Kellogg and Tuck will be "reaches." With UVA, Cornell, Duke and Ross more likely. Thoughts?

Anon Likes Earned: 0 I think your school selection is pretty realistic, you might want to spread the schools over round 1 and 2, then adjust your strategy, as needed, after round 1. Any chance you can improve your GMAT, 20-30 points? If you think you can, might be worthwhile exploring, esp for round 2 applications. (0)

OP Likes Earned: 0 Appreciate that. If I can get them all the apps done in R1, is the advantage to spreading them out that I could adjust strategy? I was under the impression that getting the apps done in R1 gave me the best shot. I could probably boost my GMAT score but was hoping to avoid having to study and retake. (0)

Anon Likes Earned: 0 I think I'd save a few apps for round 2, and have another go at the GMAT. Round 1 is a big issue if you are from an overly represented population, like Indian national. (0)

Anonymous Likes Earned: 0 I think you really need to retake your GMAT. Your score is below average at all of your schools except Johnson, and as an Asian/white male, unfortunately you have to aim for above average to really have a shot. GMAT is also used for consulting recruiting, and a 700 wouldn't be the most helpful to you then either. If you can retake and get your quant up a couple points + overall score increase of 20-30 points, that would really help you out. (0)
