Notes:

While in the middle of switching from Megachurch ministry to Small church ministry Covid hit and changed all my plans. This lead to a crazy journey that eventually landed me doing work flow analytics for Amazon with their Central Operations team. I'm still able to continue ministry by providing free consulting for small churches that are having major transitions with the Covid pandemic. This sparked a passion for wanting to start a Non-Profit for small churches that are not
able to afford consultants during times of transition. Professionally it also sparked a fire for wanting to be in a position where I can make an impact in local communities supporting entrepreneurs and small to mid-sized companies. Hence the MBA to develop and refine the skills needed for maximum impact with these endeavors. Being in my mid-30's with a family I am looking for a high end online blended program or one year program.

anon13033 Likes Earned: 6 Also looking at intake for Fall of 2022 depending on GMAT result (currently in prep course and expecting 680-700 based off of practice tests and prep course quizzes) and also if I am able to finish MBAmath.com and HBS CORe before application deadlines. (0)

anon22776 Likes Earned: 155 You could also look into Emory one year program which places very well in the South and Southwest. If you want to aim for a reach, look into Kelloggs one year program. Best of luck (1)

anon13033 Likes Earned: 6 Thank you! I did not know about Emory’s one year program but after a quick look it has strong potential of being added to my list. I did look into Kellogg’s and Duke’s one year programs but think they would both be a little too much of a stretch or the fit is not there. I also ruled out USC, Foster, UNC, and Tepper on the online side. Does anyone know of any other strong online blended programs or one years I should look into? Trying to keep the list to 5 or less schools out of consideration for my recommenders. (1)

After doing more research since earlier Emory looks like one I immediately need to add due to where they place to, like you had mentioned, as well as who they place with - EY was the number one company for their one year MBA's from the employment data on their website. Also, I probably need to add Kellogg as a stretch (my wife thinks I'm capable of anything so in her eyes it isn't a stretch lol), but I will give it some more research and consideration and could be a super strong number 5 for my list. Duke however requires a business graduate degree for admission to their one year program so I would already be ineligible for it. You seem to have a lot of insight, is there anything from reading above you think I need to address or tips on how to be a more appealing candidate? For clarification I am applying to the Kelley and Ross online programs for Fall of 2021 and will only have MBAmath.com finished by then because HBS CORe will still be in progress by the deadlines. Depending how it goes with Kelley and Ross I am then applying next year for the 2022 intakes for the one year programs as well as reapplying for Kelley and Ross online. Is this a good strategy or should I just wait and think about 2022 for all programs? (0)

Likes Earned: 1572 Your pathway is unorthodox, which can be good (passion for your goal, different work and life experiences) but also can be challenging (make sure the why MBA, why now, fit, is well articulated.) your GPA will also present a challenge, despite you taking material steps to mitigate it. Any additional context? Getting a 700+ on the GMAT will help, doing MBA Math will also help. (1)

ministry-to-marketplace Likes Earned: 6 Alex! Huge fan of the podcast! Yes, unorthodox is absolutely a good way to put it. Some context to the low GPA, I dealt with depression and alcoholism for several years, 8.5 years sober now. This led to a few major changes and jumping schools mid semester. After turning my life around I finished my bachelors online, but did so while working a full-time and part-time job, overly involved in EC's with organizations for veterans, 12-step programs, and faith programs. Basically I spread myself too thin, learned a lot about life balance through the process but still have that scar of a low GPA after the journey. (1)

They also are known for accepting students with lower GPAs but strong stories of growth which it seems like you have! Ross has been incredible in the opportunities related to social impact and even have an entire institute dedicated to it called Business+Impact.
