Notes:

I have quite the non-corporate background, so I would love some insight into my profile and whether you all had some input on what schools I should/should not be targeting.

Career Progression:

About 3 years ago I was promoted to the position of Fashion Stylist with a major Canadian fashion forward department store where I currently lead a team that styles outfits and creates visual displays in a large 100,000 square foot brick and mortar store.

Prior to this, I was in sales in suiting and luxury goods for almost 2 years.

And for the past 6 years, I have been a part-time actor and have starred in educational videos and act in live simulations in educational settings. I have also done background work on various films.

I have a BA with Honours in Philosophy with a CGPA of 9.5/12 from a Canadian University. In undergrad I received an A+ in a Financial Accounting course. In 2020, I took a Microeconomics course at my local college and received an A+ and I am currently taking Statistics at my Alma Mater.

GMAT: 760 (Q48 V47) IR 8

In my spare time, I create content for my art instagram where I post original artwork and I also enjoy working out and playing chess.

Post-MBA Goals: I am very interested in marketing for a CPG or Tech, but leaning towards CPG. I also am considering recruiting for consulting to deepen my business knowledge and then pivoting later into marketing/strategy.

Likes Earned: 1576 If you can pull everything together into a cogent story, that really shows why you need to MBA, going forward, then you should be well within the target profile of the programs you list. Maybe add 1-2 M7, like Kellogg and Sloan. Be good to know a little more about your background (assume Canadian, etc) but lots to like. The overriding theme, make sure you can show impact at work, and outside of work. (0)

I do want it to be polished but I still want to stay true to myself and be genuine because I feel like an MBA is the only way I can make the career switch I want. For a little more background, I’m the son of immigrant parents from Sri Lanka who escaped the civil war and both spoke little English. I’m also 27 and male. (0)
