Went to top 10 undergrad. Worked two years at a hedge fund in nyc, and now working on an emerging markets consulting team for a Fortune 100 company out of their London office. CFA charterholder. Looking to continue working in global investment/development, and eventually go into politics. Have held significant democrat leadership positions for young people.

Low GPA in undergrad. No parent support and was spread thin across activities (held a min. wage during school, double major, athlete, student groups, fellowships). Never thought I'd go to grad school, so didnt focus on GPA. 1/2 native american, used to live on reservation.

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1572 Well done on your GMAT, that helps. It sounds like you have some mitigating circumstances for your GPA. Have you completed any additional coursework, since? Despite that, it sounds like your WE is decent, and some international experiences adds to it. Make sure you can show impact, at work. Decent spread of programs, are you applying to all in Round 2? anon38277 Likes Earned: 21 I havent completed any classes, but had a high quant score and have done the CFA to try and offset GPA. Would extra quant courses be a significant boost? Or is CFA + high GMAT quant enough? Intending to apply R2. Low GPA was also at a good undergrad school. Am I wasting my time in applying to HBS and Wharton? (0)

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1572 It's a tough call, there is a lot to like here, just the one aspect to really overcome. I'd still apply to H and W. might be worth enrolling in 1-2 courses in the upcoming months. Might not be necessary, but almost becomes some kind of extra assurance. High quant helps, CFA a little. The "never thought I'd go to grad school..." explainer really won't help. (0)
