Career background: Moved to UK to study Chemical Engineering with a focus on environmental innovation applications. Graduated with a Distinction (with Honours) i.e. top 5% of my cohort and was recognised as 1 of the top 5 graduate Chemical Engineers in the UK. Worked as a Process Engineer for my industrial placement, then moved into 3 years of Consulting (focussing on Industry4.0 and supply chain transformations) - recognised as Rising Star Finalist at the UK Consulting 'Oscars'. Now working in an Innovation Ventures Studio building in-house ClimateTech ventures to decarbonise supply chains. Long-term goal post-MBA is to work in ClimateTech VC.

Community impact: Big driver of STEM & DEI agendas; leading a Diversity in Tech network at my firm, founded one of the pillars of our company's Black Action Plan, spoken at 30+ events in 3 years, WEF Global Shaper and NGO board member.

Target schools: Stanford GSB, Harvard Business School, choosing between Wharton or MIT Sloan as my third option (any advice here?) Business school focus must include climate entrepreneurship, tech and engineering specialisms, social impact

VC can be challenging to break into, but if you get access to a top program, that helps. Showing impact and growth at work is key. Impact outside of work also helps. When are you taking the GMAT? sun-and-sea Likes Earned: 32 Hi Alex, I had some follow up questions since my last message if you don’t mind. 1. I’ve spoken to a few alumni in the last few months and heard that MIT Sloan may be less social than I was hoping. I was initially targeting this as an engineer interested in deeptech climate VC. I’m now considering whether to substitute this for Kellogg or Booth instead. (I’m looking to apply to GBS and HBS in R1 and then Wharton and one other in R2). 2. Will be sitting GMAT in two weeks aiming for 720-730. Is this sufficient? Evidence of quant is shown elsewhere on the application via Masters in Engineering (3rd out of 101 cohort) 3. I am both a British and Maltese citizen - does it pay to list one nationality over the other as the primary one? Thank you! (1)

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1587 Sloan, Kellogg and Booth are in the same tier, so it boils down to personal fit. I think Sloan does make sense, in your case. But I might try to include Wharton in Round 1, too. I don’t think it matters whether you list UK or Malta. Both are underrepresented regions for top US-based MBA programs. 730 would be good. Just make sure you feel it’s your best score after great prep. Best of luck! (0)
