Former IB/current energy investor torn on MIT & Wharton. I couldn't be less of an engineer. I intend to work in clean energy and help build a business (initially corp dev). Not interested in IB/MBB. MIT has a more active clean energy ecosystem and is potentially more additive given my finance background, vs. Wharton's alumni base/rank/resources

anon21584 Likes Earned: 6 Congrats on the admits!! I'm in the energy industry currently and am looking to use an MBA to pivot more into clean energy/project finance as well. I've done pretty extensive research on T20 schools and their participation in clean energy/renewable energy finance and from what I found, Penn seems to have good options for energy finance and policy (Kleinman Center) and MIT has the Sustainability Certificate you could tack onto your track (https://mitsloan.mit.edu/sustainability/courses). MIT might be the best fit for your post-MBA career goals, though. (2)

anon28599 Likes Earned: 76 I had a similar decision and picked MIT for clean energy investing. Upon researching the MIT Sustainability Initiative, the Clean Energy Prize, and Sustainability Certificate etc, I found that MIT has the edge here (in my opinion). I spoke with a few second years in the distinct clubs and seems that they all had it figured out. Professors like John Sterman and Rigobon seem like great resources for the field and have ton of contacts. Other than that, the programs are a bit different. So fit can play a big part. I also have a NY IB background, and felt that going to W was kind off the same profile. I was attracted by the MIT down to earth persona. But everyone is different, and pros and cons with each. You cant go wrong with either decision! Best of luck! (3)
