Also waitlisted at Yale with Invite to Interview next month. Top choice has been Fuqua since beginning (was Duke undergrad alumni), but scholarship offers are making the decision more difficult. Fuqua has not been responsive in being reconsidered for scholarships.

anon8466 Likes Earned: 0 I am in a similar situation with asking Fuqua to reconsider scholarships. Although they have mentioned there is a process they take for reconsideration, I envision it will be unlikely that anything comes of it. That said, it still probably remains my top choice. (0)

anon15575 Likes Earned: 0 In your situation, a lot depends on your career choice and location preference. You being from South, would do good with Fuqua or UNC. Otherwise explore the country at Tepper. Also, depending on your career choice, that scholarship can go far. You know, being a top fish at a second school than just anohter one in a large one!! I have heard that many students from top schools working side by side with students from second tier school, for very similar salary and benefits. I would put that in a bit of a perspective, before just deciding on a deadset school. But if you are already there - fixed on the school then go for it. Don't worry about buyer's remorse. (0)

anon21648 Likes Earned: 0 Forgot to mention: Post-MBA Career is in Sustainibility and Energy, where both Fuqua and UNC have pretty strong programs in. While I still prefer Fuqua, the added $$ offered by UNC is tipping it in their favor. (0)

anon15575 Likes Earned: 0 anon15575 again. I was in a class by S Arbogast at UNC last year. He has vast experience and connections in the industry. Of course, Fuqua would have that too and has a better reputation. I am in the same sector so I can relate to you conundrum. I am just admitted to UNC and waiting to hear back from Fuqua :) In my personal opinion, energy sector is so small in MBA community, it is more about right connections and career services. and presonally, I'd put UNC a bit ahead in Energy / Oil and Gas / Sustainability area. Their energy concentration is better. Also, from cost point of view, Chevron or Exxon won't make different offer to you if you had MBA from either Duke or UNC; so, the scholarship will go far. And infact, having a scholarship might even help you land an interview or even a job. But that is my opinion. (0)
