Notes:

Struggle to choose between Sloan and Haas. Post MBA - software industry. Feel that Sloan is a better brand but I'm not interested in consulting or financial banking. Haas so close to Bay Area and all the startups seems to be much more software oriented (probably 2nd in this industry after Stanford). European candidate-no coast preferences.Thoughts?

Anon Likes Earned: 0 I would go Haas. Impossible to beat the network that you'd build in the Bay Area. Strong software recruiting as well. MIT also strong but may be a bit of a disadvantage considering your post MBA industry (0)

Anonymous Likes Earned: 0 Great choices-- I think Haas has the slight advantage though. Much harder to break into software in Silicon Valley than it is to break into tech in Boston. I think Haas would open more doors for you. (0)

@ClearAdmit Likes Earned: 0 Congrats on making the cut at four of the world's top MBA programs! Once again, some great advice from the community here. You clearly have a tough decision to make - for all the reasons indicated below. I think that most would agree that MIT Sloan is consistently higher ranked and has an edge in global reputation for all things technology and engineering. With that said, your fellow applicants here are right to point out that location is incredibly important and that Haas - with it's Bay Area location - offers incredible access to the jobs you seek. That alone may erase any difference in ranking or global reputation. Now, with that said, keep in mind that location cuts both ways. In short, a large percentage of Haas grads will wind up on the West Coast of the US - not just immediately after business school but for many years to come. Given that you are from Europe, you may want to think carefully about that element - since San Francisco is essentially twice as far (~10 hour flight) from London as Boston is (~5 hour flight). You should also consider the possibility that at some point you might work in Europe (unless you have a US passport or some guarantee of a green card/visa?) - and should carefully investigate the alumni networks of both schools in your home market too. Finally, given that this is a close call - and that you won't go wrong at either school - you should visit the programs (if possible) and get some time on campus to help determine where you feel most comfortable. MIT Likes Earned: 0 I definitely hear what people are saying below with the bay area, but MIT is a no brainer here. Sloan absolutely has the better brand and has the edge with tech / entrepreneurship across the board (0)
