Insead deposit deadline same as Booth's decision. Booth vs. Insead - 6 years of PE (limited partner) experience. Post-MBA aiming to switch to direct investing (PE/ VC). Long term goal to settle in the US. However, plan to relocate to Asia short term (wish to move to the US under L1A visa later to avoid H1B visa). Waiting for NYU and MIT.

OP Likes Earned: 0 Welcome your comments on Booth vs. Insead. I see only two other people in the same situation this year. One chose Insead (consulting) and other Booth (technology). Have a month to go. (0)

Anon Likes Earned: 0 Both awesome choices. It comes down to you really. A big difference is the 1yr at INSEAD vs 2 year at Booth, as well as if you want to move abroad for bschool. You could go to Booth and study abroad in Asia 2nd year? Each one you'd have to network a bit to get to either USA or Asia depending on where you go to school. Assuming you know how to network, which experience do you want? I'm preferential to Booth because I know more about it, I like the Boothies I met during First Day, and you might have an easier time getting back to USA with a Booth degree. But Insead would be an easier route to short term goals (0)

Anon Likes Earned: 0 Thank you! I am currently in NY, but an Indian by birth. Practically speaking, finding a job in the US post MBA is tricky doesn't matter where I do my MBA (visas etc). I wish to continue working in PE and move to the US in the long term. Does Insead MBA gets valued in the US 5 years down the line? (0)

ANONAPOTAMUS Likes Earned: 0 would go with booth. long term it'll be a great resource. insead is not recognized in the US. also, for PE/VC Booth will be alot better, insead is a consulting school first and foremost. good luck! (0)

Anonymous Likes Earned: 0 I think for you INSEAD is better given it is more international and better if you want to be in Asia short term. Also cost of opportunity and total cost are lower as it is one year. Moving back to the US will depend on your job, not where you took an MBA. (0)

@Rm Likes Earned: 0 Insead is known for consulting while Columbia is known for finance. also if you want to work in USA then Columbia is the better choice even for consulting. (0)

OP Likes Earned: 0 Thanks for all your comments. I think it has been a mixed verdict overall. I like the thought that my future move to the US depends on the job and not on where I do my MBA. Then the question is, in the short term (3-5 years), which of Insead or Booth has strong enough brand to get me into the PE/ VC space in Asia? (0)

IP Likes Earned: 0 In same boat my friend. Except looking at different post-mba industry. Re: finance @ INSEAD : check where alumni have placed on linkedin. Based on my research: INSEAD not good for finance - most ppl i know who did insead in finance returned to their pre-mba firms.... very tough to switch, especially to private investing. (0)

OP Likes Earned: 0 I will not be switching completely as I have had 6 years of PE experience albeit in funds/ co-investment role. Its true though, very few Insead alums in PE/VC compared to Booth. Only reason why Insead weighs higher is coz its a one-year program i.e. half the cost as Booth's. (0)
