I am interested in technology / sustainability. (e.g. electric vehicles). I work in consulting and may return for sponsorship since I got no $.

Haas - pros tight knit, love Bay Area, cons small East coast network (From there, may return one day)
Ross - pros network well distributed, community spirit, cons prestige, student caliber

Anon Likes Earned: 0 I would lean towards Haas on this one. It'll be great for tech / sustainability, and even if the network isn't huge on the east coast, the prestige/name definitely translates (it's not as if Ross is huge on the east coast...). Either place will be good on student caliber & spirit, both are great programs, but I think Haas has the edge here. (0)

ANONAPOTAMUS Likes Earned: 0 Ross. If you are looking to work in electric vehicle technology. The best place is Detroit. UM is top engineering school for auto technology. Ford GM Chrysler are all investing in electric vehicles. SF has Tesla, but they don't really care for MBA grads. If you are looking for regular tech, than Haas. (0)

berkeley Likes Earned: 0 I went to ugrad at berk (non haas), going to ross next year because I got rejected from haas and UM is the closet to cal. to me, berkeley is a no brainer. you'll have more flexibility (what if sponsorship was a nightmare?) when you'll pay 10k less per year (resident) for a school above michigan in everything - weather, academics in every single field, athletics (ya i said it), shade of yellow (lol). Lifestyle wise, if you review the sustainability coursework reqs, you'll have to take classes outside bschool. haas is next to the chem/eng buildings, ross you'll have to drive to north campus and walk in the cold. final thing to think about, how many harvard/yale alumni have the confidence without attitude to publicly admit they got rejected from their alma mater and then urge you to take the opportunity to attend? (0)

Wrong Likes Earned: 0 Sustainability classes are two blocks away and also offered at Ross, tons of alums on East Coast, and no question Ross is top for electric vehicles. That said, you gotta pick the school that's the best fit for you. For me, that's Ross - but I'll give you that the weather is better at Berkeley ;) Can't go wrong, really - go with your gut. (0)

Anonymous Likes Earned: 0 How are the recruitment #s though for the sustainable auto industry in at Haas? Might be worth connecting with a current student to get a better sense for Career Services in that space. You might have to do a significant amt of your own hustling to get an internship (and subsequent career) started in that space. Also, you know this because you live here, but that $10K you save at Haas is $10K you're putting right toward renting here, easy. (0)

Haas Likes Earned: 0 I can sympathize thou on the East Coast vs West Coast network question. There really are next to no Haas alumni on the east coast, but when it comes to sustainability, Haas absolutely wins (0)
