I haven made my decision yet. On one side. Berkeley has a better ranking and is better known for its technology programs. On the other side, UCLA offered me a bigger scholarship and I am more attracted by the experience of linving in LA

anon64186 Likes Earned: 43 Haas is a tier if not tiers above Anderson. Seems crazy to turn it down over 90k. Doubly true if tech is the goal. (3)

anon30792 Likes Earned: 14 "Crazy" is a bit much, no? Not sure who in their 20's or early 30's just bats an eye at $90k. Depending on the strength of your background and whether you want to stay in LA after school, I think Anderson with minimal debt sounds like a pretty sweet deal. (2)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 763 Agree with 30792. Anderson has fairly strong Tech placement. LA 'Silicon Beach' and further diversification out of the Bay and possible continued remote work I'd see it being less critical to choose Haas over Anderson. Haas would be considered in the tier above, but if you'd be happier in LA and with less debt, then Anderson may be better for you. (1)

You really can't go wrong with either choice and you have described the tradeoff accurately. Based on your answer, it sounds like UCLA gets the nod since you get more money and you like LA. (2)

anon64186 Likes Earned: 43 My point was only that 90k in the span of a 30-year, high-paying tech career is not significant. At the end of the day, when you are applying for your dream job, would you rather have the Haas or Anderson network to lean on? Just my two cents as a California native that applied to both programs. (2)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 763 True 90k is not large in a 30 year view, but it's not a static amount and added onto any preexisting student debt, even at a low rate, in a high-cost state is an opportunity cost. In OP case I'm not sure Haas would accomplish something Anderson could not. If the circumstances were different, higher cost would be worth it. @32150, did USC undergrad so not UCLA specific, but LA is certainly a city with lots of activity and never ending amount of things to do, but definitely has it's warts, even in the nicer areas around Westwood. I think it'll depend on if you're looking for city or a more suburban big town vibe. (2)

anon68187 Likes Earned: 9 Haas is definitely above Anderson. But is it worth 90k more. IMO, nope. Tech is a sector that after a limit will not really care for your brandname. and both the schools are way past that cutoff and will provide great opportunities in tech. (1)
