Notes:

Hold a SE Asian passport. graduated with ug + masters degrees. Been in the US since graduating on OPT/H1-B etc. I am agnostic on short-term geo but would like to return to the US eventually. If I go to Kellogg, I will likely recruit for Toronto/intl offices as I can't avail another OPT period post MBA. Is that a feasible plan?

eliot Verified User. Likes Earned: 1877 Congrats on your acceptances to INSEAD, LBS and Kellogg. You mention that you are agnostic about post MBA geographic location except that you have to work outside the US post MBA. Given this constraint, LBS or INSEAD would likely give you the best non-US post MBA options. I suspect that both LBS and INSEAD would be great for working in Canada as well. Do you have a preference between these programs? (1)

rajdwive322 Likes Earned: 5 I am pretty evenly split between Kellogg & INSEAD. I would likely focus on the Dubai/Toronto offices post MBA and hopefully seek an internal transfer to the US in the future. I can also intern during school In the US. Lack of internships due to INSEAD being a 1 year program stresses me out slightly. I have spoken to a couple of MBB recruiters who mentioned international recruiting is common across all schools I mentioned. (2)

eliot Verified User. Likes Earned: 1877 Thanks for sharing that you are deciding between Kellogg and INSEAD. If you are seeking an MBB consulting role, and you don't have existing consulting experience, then you would likely benefit from a summer internship at a MBB firm after your first year. This is because one of the best ways for a career switcher to land an MBB consulting job post MBA is to get an offer after the summer internship. If you go to the 1 Year program at INSEAD, you would not have this opportunity. Given this, Kellogg's 2 year MBA program likely would be the safest bet. Of course, the big benefit of a one year MBA program at INSEAD is that you can save the time and expense of a 2nd year. (1)

anon14270 Likes Earned: 5 Thank you for the detailed response. I am trying to essentially assess the portability of a US program globally vs the 1 go around to recruit at INSEAD. Reaching out to Kellogg to negotiate some fin aid dollars to offset the cost. (2)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 783 Other consideration 1Y v 2Y is where consulting graduate recruitment status is at the moment. Guessing game to know hiring plans 2 years out, but an extra year would buy more time for some negative factors to diminish (delayed starts for 2023 class, depressed M&A activity, etc). (2)
