Tuck is my dream program, but struggling with the thought of spending 2 years in hanover, especially since my wife can't find a good paying job there. While I do not love Duke as much as Tuck, I can perfectly see my family and I living in the Durham-Raleigh area and staying there longterm after school. Help!

twinsbasiltwins Likes Earned: 24 Duke, Darden, and Cornell are full rides, and I was able to get Tuck to go up from 80K to 140K (not full ride, but pretty close). Charlottesville has more opportunities for my wife than Hanover, but nowhere close to the research triangle in North Carolina. @Alex are you implying I should consider Darden over both Tuck and Duke? (1)

applying2024 Likes Earned: 51 I didn’t get into Tuck but I have full rides at Duke and UVA. Probably going to go with Duke because the triangle is awesome and my wife and I have an existing network there. I definitely got attached to Darden throughout the application process, making it difficult as we approach the deposit deadlines. (2)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 775 I think the ask about Darden was due to Fuqua showing no $ in your original. Has your wife floated the idea of remote/hybrid arrangements with current employer? Given they'd likely be notifying of leaving soon if required to depart anyways, so there may be limited risk in asking. (2)

twinsbasiltwins Likes Earned: 24 My wife is employed by the state health department, and leaving the state would result in termination, making the remote option unfeasible. I am curious whether choosing Duke over a higher-ranked Ivy League school would affect my perceived prestige. I understand that Duke can open doors to a consulting position with MBB firms. However, looking ahead five years, if I were to relocate to the Northeast or Midwest, would a Duke MBA still hold significant weight in transitioning from consulting to senior general management or operations roles? (2)

applying2024 Likes Earned: 51 Duke doesn’t dominate the Boston market (specifically MBB Boston) like Tuck does, but it will give you similar access. I’m willing to bet there’s a huge Fuqua alumni presence there given the volume of people going into consulting, healthcare and tech - strong suits for Boston and the Research Triangle. A flight from RDU to Boston is 90 minutes. You’ll get into Boston from door to door in the same amount of time as if you took the Dartmouth Coach from Hanover. (2)
