Notes:

Want a tight-knit program with good placement in Tech and VC. Know for sure I want to end up on West Coast. My partner has a fully remote job, though a relocation to Cambridge comes with a ~10% pay cut.

However, I also want to try out a new place for 2 years and reduce 'what-ifs' in my life. West coast program/alumni base worth it?

eliot Verified User. Likes Earned: 1935 Congrats on your acceptances to Haas and MIT Sloan! Both are top MBA programs with strong ties to the tech and venture industries. Reviewing the 2023 career reports, among Class of 2023 MBA graduates seeking employment and accepting a job:

Haas: 29.8% (68) accepted tech industry jobs and 2.6% (6) accepted VC jobs. In addition, 75.4% (172) accepted jobs on the West Coast.

MIT Sloan: 24% (70) accepted tech industry jobs and 3.8% (11) accepted VC jobs. In addition, 23.6% (66) accepted jobs on the West Coast.

In summary, both MIT Sloan and Haas have a strong track record of tech industry job placement. MIT Sloan has slightly better Venture Capital placement. Haas is heavily waited to West Coast job placement (75%) vis 23.6% for MIT Sloan.

In summary, both programs would provide you with opportunities to explore either a tech or VC career post MBA. If you are committed to working on the West Coast post MBA, then Haas has a deeper network. Basically, you can't go wrong either way so feel free to let your personal fit preferences influence the decision.
