Notes:

So torn. Loved students at both the schools. Very strong preference to be in NYC after school, been here my whole life. Booth: Pros- Better Brand/Ranking. Broader Approach to Inv. Mgmt, Personally a better fit. Cons- Not in NYC. CBS: Pros- NYC (where I have a network in the industry).

anon14320 Likes Earned: 1 Sorry but CBS's Value Investing Program is seriously unparalleled with almost 100% placement. Rankings change all the time and I'm not sure Booth actually does have a better brand, especially when Columbia is more internationally recognized. I feel almost everyone in Chicago has a Booth MBA degree (from part-time, evening, weekend programs) while you'll actually have a huge network in NYC after school. (0)

Chicago and Columbia have very similar placement in Private Equity, but Columbia has a very clear advantage for Hedge Funds and Real Estate (0)

It's definitely a difficult decision, and I feel like I'd be happy at either one (although I did feel a better fit at Booth), but if you for sure want to be in NY, then CBS may be the way to go here. anon16303 Likes Earned: 0 I would probably go with Booth here. You can easily get NYC from Booth plus it opens more doors in other places. Also there is a perception that Columbia is kind of in decline while Booth is very much on the upswing. (0)

anon11276 Likes Earned: 0 CBS has a $500M building to be delivered in 2 years. If anything is in systematic decline I would say it is the city of Chicago, not Columbia. Regarding relative strengths, it is pretty much common knowledge that Columbia has a stronger brand internationally and in NY, while Booth has a stronger brand in the rest of the US. In my view, considering the OP's target industry, CBS is indisputably a better option. Regardless of my personal views, I would recommend OP to have a careful look at both employment reports. (0)
