Notes:

UCLA & UT send higher % of students into tech and Austin, TX is a growing tech hub. Both have great career management, however, I am concerned their networks are limited to specific geos.

Duke appears to have a larger national presence and sends a good % of its class into tech. It also is considered a "tier" higher than the others.

anon10660 Likes Earned: 292 McCombs is great for tech and if you are open to Austin, this is a no-brainer. However as you rightly pointed out, Fuqua is definitely a tier above the two and will give you the best opportunities in tech. Congratulations! (1)

anon27821 Likes Earned: 193 If you are wanting to do Tech then Anderson should be the top choice followed by UT. Well I say that, but it really depends on where you want to live. As someone who lives in Austin-the Austin Tech scene is really up and coming and UT has strong strong ties to that scene. I have a few friends who went through McCombs and now work at one of the majors in Austin (3)

anon30792 Likes Earned: 14 I think I missed it... did you say you preferred Austin? I'd think Anderson would be the way to go here for a pure tech focus. Duke is also a great choice though. (1)

My thought is that UCLA and TX are comparable schools w/r/t Tech, and I prefer to be in Austin over LA just due to lifestyle factors (e.g., cost of living / no state income tax) and the faster growing technology ecosystem (i.e., Big Tech offices, many startup incubators, robust VC network). That all said, while I definitely could see myself living in Austin for a few years after graduation, I am a bit concerned about TX's nationwide network should I want to pursue opportunities in other regions. From the employment report, approx. 70% stay in TX (UCLA has similar stats w/ CA), whereas Duke has a much larger national presence and a better "brand." Duke is not considered as big of a tech school and may not have as strong of tech curriculum. I complete understand that I am very fortune to have these options, I just am having a hard time deciding. (1)

anon27821 Likes Earned: 193 Feels like your heart is saying on Austin on this one. I think you can’t go wrong with any of the three choices. But if you want Austin Tech and the up and coming scene, especially given the inevitable increase in company presence and capital implementation in majors within Austin (because of the inevitable move away from the larger cities NY, LA, SEA) UT Austin will be provide the best route. That said, Duke has a strong tech presence and obviously Anderson is Anderson and they have great ties to SF/SVal (2)
