Notes:

Got into others (Kellogg, Haas, UCLA) but narrowed to these 2. Goal=retail/tech, hope to intern at Amazon, Nike, etc for summer but explore entrepreneurship during school year. May have to recruit MBB/consulting for full time for location flex (my SO's career). Is Sloan so much better than Booth for entrepreneurship? Booth for MBB? $ diff consid.?

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1572 These two programs, along with Kellogg, are reasonably comparable, in terms of overall brand. I'd think all three would provide you access to the opportunities you seek, in MBB. All three should provide similar location flexibility, too. (0)

I've had a lot of people tell me that if I am more serious about that pursuit, then I should likely choose Sloan. Any perspective on that front? Is Sloan much more advantageous for tech roles or entrepreneurship pursuits (vs. Booth's Polsky center)? Also, what about MIT brand vs UChicago? (0)

anon13561 Likes Earned: 0 Both brands are fairly comparable, and it would be splitting hairs to say one is more 'prestigious' than the other. You should have a slight leg up when pursuing tech and entrepreneurship at Sloan, but it would be wrong to assume that Booth won't provide you with great opportunities as well. It doesn't sound like the 50K difference is a factor in your decision-making. What do your gut instincts tell you? (0)

anon49472 Likes Earned: 13 Hi OP, also pursuing tech entrepreneurship and heading to Sloan this fall. I don't know about Booth as I didn't apply but the entrepreneurship environment and opportunities are extraordinary at MIT. Talked with many people and one way or the other, everyone is quite involved in new/innovative opportunities regardless of their post MBA goals. Many people spoke about the Sloan Innovation Period, where they were able to find people (not necessarily from Sloan but other MIT programs) to start their ideas with. It all seemed super natural and that is the environment I felt myself thriving at. Rejected a couple of other M7s as I felt Sloan aligned better with my goals. Were you able to attend adMIT weekend? I pretty much made up my mind right after the event. Good luck! (0)

anon24788 Likes Earned: 0 Hey OP, was in the same boat as you recently (schools and $$). I'm headed to Booth this fall. Booth/Sloan seem to have a lot of overlap. The good news is you really can't make a bad choice! I'm similarly recruiting Consulting or Corporate Strategy in Tech. In those two worlds, the recruiting placement is essentially a wash. I really enjoyed both welcome weekends and went in leaning Sloan, but I found that Booth as a business school offered a more well-rounded experience, better administrative support (especially career services), and a more diverse class. I did, on the other hand, enjoy the cohesiveness of the Sloan community a lot. One more note on behalf of Sloan - I found that Sloan's integration into MIT and the Cambridge hub is going to be a major differentiator in terms of coming up with ideas and launching something off the ground in tech or healthcare. While Polsky is amazing and will support you, it's hard to replicate the greater ecosystem. Might just mean more legwork. For me, since I plan to do consulting as Plan A and entrepreneurship was more of a nice to have, I chose based on the business school itself vs parent institution. Its such a hard call though, might just come down to what city you prefer to live in! (0)

anon28599 Likes Earned: 76 Congrats on getting into both schools. Equally good for MBB. If money is not the major factor you have to go with Sloan. Look at its Employment Report, Amazon and Nike are on of its top employers. I got into both and chose Sloan because I felt it has an unparalleled entrepreneurship environment (Stanford being the only comparable). MIT's resources in Entrepreneurship are limitless: The world renowned Martin Trust Center that throws money at any startup through its doors, MIT's Sandbox, Cross-MIT resources, DE Lab, G-Lab, MIT's 100k Competition, VCs parked right on campus that focus all of their funds on MIT startups - are all hard to turn down. Perhaps by quantifying MIT's resources it will surpass Booth's scholarship. Best of luck! At the end there is no wrong decision here! (0)
