Notes:

OP: Banking and finance lawyer. Goal is to transition to private equity post MBA but I believe i will have to do a couple of years of management consulting before that. This is a very though decision. Any advice ? Is it possible to switch immediately to PE post MBA with my background ?

anon74446 Likes Earned: 2 It is possible to switch to PE post MBA. However, be aware that PE is complicated since you need to build the right network, job vacancies in many PE funds are not normally posted, they are based on recommendations. Either school will give you the tools and network I believe. I would go with LBS 2 year programme, which will give you a chance to meet more people, to find 1 or even 2 internships in PE, and perhaps, receive an offer. With INSEAD's 1 year programme, you will have less time to build that very valuable network/experience. (0)

grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1149 Congrats on your acceptances! I'll echo what others have said here. Career switching is easier to do in a 2-year program - especially when networking is such a key component of getting into your target field. I should also add that the PE community in London - and the finance community in general - is stronger than it would be in France/Singapore. This is not to say that you would 'go wrong' by joining INSEAD - as it is a fantastic program (with incredibly placement into consulting jobs). It's just that based on your profile, LBS probably gives you the best odds of making the switch to PE (even if via strategy consulting). Best of luck! (0)
