Notes:

I am debating between NYU Stern and Yale. I think I prefer Yale slightly because of its ranking and brand value. However, Stern’s location and the opportunities it provides is unbeatable. Moreover, I have a full-ride from NYU Stern. So I am wondering if the incremental benefit Yale provides is worth the incremental cost of tuition.

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1577 Yale might have a slight edge, wrt ranking, but it is only marginal at best. I don't think it makes sense to weigh that too heavily. A full ride from Stern is impressive! Because you are looking at Consulting, the pay back on debt would be quicker than if you were going into a lower paying field. Have you considered the campus environments? NYC versus New Haven, etc? It's definitely a tough call. (1)

grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1151 I agree with Alex; the two MBA programs are very close in ranking. Now one can argue that the parent institutions have a larger brand/ranking gap (Yale being a top Ivy League program, etc.), but on the MBA front it's pretty darn close. At the end of the day, you can go either way here and make the case: Yale is a rising star on the MBA scene, has stunning facilities, and a great campus/community environment (in part due to it being away from the bustle of a major city like NYC)... Of course, as you point out, Stern offers a superb location and a FREE RIDE, and the latter is pretty hard to ignore. While working on consulting means the money may not ultimately matter that much, we are talking about a substantial amount of money here. Have you approached Yale and explained your predicament? Are they offering you any money at all? Also, did you not make the interview cut at Wharton?

anon10660 Likes Earned: 292 Full ride at Stern is definitely a better option at Yale. Yale SOM is a great program but I would say it is not that much better than Stern (3)

anon41400 Likes Earned: 5 Thank you all for the input. I did make the interview cut at Wharton so I am awaiting on that result. As for as campus life is concerned, I am not too concerned about that. I think I would enjoy both and I don’t have a preference for one over the other. (0)

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1577 Congrats on Haas!! I wouldn't say that Haas is way better ranked. While in most cases Haas may be a marginally better option, this won't be the case in all cases. If you want to be on the east coast, post MBA, for example? Great to have these options. (0)
