Notes:

Still waiting to hear back from a few more schools, but my Darden Early Action deposit is due today, so looking for opinions based on my current options. Half tuition/fees scholarship from Darden, no scholarship at Tuck. I love both schools - Tuck might have an edge for MBB recruiting, but it’s hard to pass up the scholarship from Darden.

anon39937 Likes Earned: 0 hey - in the exact same boat - like down to the scholarship...i've been thinking about where i want to end up - if you're wedded to the north east / NYC, maybe Tuck is better option, if DC / south, maybe Darden...I have difficulty getting over the name / rank and I really don't think that should be a consideration, but that's where I get stuck. Personally, I felt like the cultures were very similar. (0)

anon97226 Likes Earned: 1 Nice to know someone else is making the same decision! I agree, I felt the cultures at both schools were very similar. I am actually based in the Midwest currently and looking to come back post-MBA, but also interested in the DC area and Atlanta since I have family in both places. Being closer to family is pulling me a little closer to Darden, along with the scholarship money and lower overall cost of attendance compared to Tuck. Agree, if I were shooting for Boston or NYC I might feel stronger about Tuck, but it is hard to pass up the “prestige” of the school/Ivy League. I went to a T10 undergrad, so the MBA network is a little more important to me than overall school network/brand though. I’ve also met a number of HYP undergrads at Darden, so maybe they felt the same? I think at this point, I’m planning to put down the Darden deposit and attend, but worst case scenario, if I change my mind I’m just out $3,000 from the deposit. (0)

anon39937 Likes Earned: 0 In complete honesty, that's what I did last night - $3,000 in the bigger picture is minimal. I'd challenge your network idea, though, as I've heard great things about Darden's network and all students / alums I've talked to have been thoroughly engaging, etc. To think about is if the "Ivy League" title means much in the professional school sphere - more the reputation of the given school - i.e. Ross / Hass / Anderson being highly ranked / regarded. I went Ivy undergrad, though, so unsure if I'm one to talk... (0)

anon97226 Likes Earned: 1 I may not have worded it well in my previous post, but I agree with what you’re saying about network - I think Darden’s network is as strong as Tuck’s, and the overall Dartmouth brand doesn’t matter as much to recruiters and people within the MBA sphere. Putting down my Darden deposit now, good luck with the rest of your schools, and potentially see you next year in Charlottesville! (0)
